Textile Trends in 2025

As an interior designer, I believe textiles are one of the best ways to add personality, brighten a space, or create focus in a room. In 2025, the focus is on sustainability, texture, comfort, and technology—bringing warmth, style, and innovation into your home. Here’s a look at the textile trends that will refresh your space and make it feel inviting:

Sustainable fabrics

Many textiles are treated with chemicals that can harm the environment, but innovative brands are now offering eco-friendly alternatives. These natural materials are renewable, and biodegradable, and help create a sustainable home without compromising functionality. Plant-based fibres, such as organic cotton, bamboo, hemp, and linen, are making a comeback, offering texture and warmth while being kinder to the planet. These fabrics are better for the environment during production and break down naturally at the end of their life, unlike synthetic materials that contribute to landfill waste. Choosing textiles from non-toxic processes and sustainable fibres ensures a greener, healthier home.

Bold patterns and prints

Geometric designs, florals, and abstract patterns are rising in popularity, bringing bold personality and focus to interiors. Leopard print, which has been a major fashion trend, is now influencing home design. As we head into 2025, nature-inspired motifs like butterfly and fruit prints offer a modern twist on traditional styles. The Arts and Crafts movement is also making a comeback, with intricate, heritage-inspired patterns. Meanwhile, 70s geometric prints with bold shapes and repeating patterns are set to be a major trend this spring, helping to tie your space together effortlessly while adding a unique style.

Sculptural and 3D Textiles

Sculptural and 3D textiles are a growing trend in interior design, offering a modern touch that adds depth and visual interest to any space. These fabrics feature raised patterns, intricate folds, or dimensional weaves that help define focal points in the room while remaining soft and inviting. They are perfect for creating a contemporary, dynamic, and a unique look.

Smart textiles

Smart textiles are set to change home design by adapting to temperature, light, and pressure. In the future, fabrics like thermochromic ones will change colour with heat, while self-healing and photochromic fabrics will offer even more convenience and innovation. With thermo-regulating options to improve energy efficiency, these textiles will bring both style and functionality to your home.

For smaller spaces, smart textiles will be particularly valuable, with light-sensitive curtains and pressure-detecting rugs. These eco-friendly and durable fabrics will also improve air quality and promote sustainability, while features like motion sensors and fire-resistant materials will provide enhanced safety. Smart textiles will transform home design, blending functionality, style, and energy efficiency like never before.

While these fabrics are still in the early stages of development for broader use in home design, they are already making their way into products and applications.
